In summary: the original Chew WGA tool may or may not contain malicious code depending on where it was downloaded from. But the very act of downloading any activation bypass tool exposes the user to significant risk, as malicious actors have weaponized these tools to spread malware for over a decade.

Chew WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) is a specialized patch tool designed to bypass the activation and validation protocols of Windows 7. Version 0.9 is often cited as one of the most stable releases of this particular activator.

Chew WGA includes a button intended to undo the activation changes and restore the system to its previous state. However, evidence suggests that the uninstallation process is incomplete and problematic. Users who attempted to remove Chew WGA and restore normal Windows activation functionality found that the Windows Activation Client (slui.exe) remained broken. In some cases, uninstalling the tool led to continuous "Windows Activation Client has stopped working" error messages at startup.

Because Chew WGA patches critical Windows system files, it frequently destabilizes the operating system. Common technical side effects include: Infinite boot loops or Blue Screens of Death (BSOD).

It intercepts the operating system's internal queries regarding licensing status, forcing a hardcoded "Genuine" response back to the user interface. Technical and Security Risks of Using Chew WGA
