This page contains download links for PuTTY release 0.81.
0.81, released on 2024-04-15, is not the latest release. See the Latest Release page for the most up-to-date release (currently 0.83).
Past releases of PuTTY are versions we thought were reasonably likely to work well, at the time they were released. However, later releases will almost always have fixed bugs and/or added new features. If you have a problem with this release, please try the latest release, to see if the problem has already been fixed.
You probably want one of these. They include versions of all the PuTTY utilities (except the new and slightly experimental Windows pterm).
(You probably want the 64-bit x86 version. The 32-bit version is only for backward compatibility with very old PCs / versions of Windows.)
The "v2.0" update refines the interface, adds more applications, improves stability, and expands the library of emulated content—all while remaining completely free.

You can find EmuOS v2.0 by searching for its official GitHub Pages site or the developer’s main website. Load it up, double-click the "Doom" icon, and let the sound of a dial-up modem—simulated, of course—take you back. The "v2

If you’ve used previous versions (v1.x), v2.0 will feel familiar yet vastly improved. Here are the headline features of edition:
This aesthetic is more than nostalgia; it is a form of digital resistance. The skeuomorphic design of the 1990s was built on metaphors of physical objects (folders, trash bins, file cabinets). In contrast, modern "flat" and "neumorphic" design prioritizes clean abstraction and frictionless touch interaction. By resurrecting the older GUI, emuOS v2.0 re-introduces a sense of digital gravity —a feeling that the interface has texture, depth, and mechanical limitations. The pixelated cursor moves with deliberate slowness; windows require a precise double-click; the "Start" menu is a layered list of text commands. Using emuOS feels like typing on a mechanical keyboard after years of glass screens—tactile, deliberate, and satisfyingly inefficient.
The last known stable version of this distribution was released around 2015 , and it has been reported as "extremely old and no longer maintained". While you can still likely find the ISO images available for download, be aware that you will be using outdated software that may have security vulnerabilities and may not support the latest hardware.
