: Installing older SolidWorks versions on machines with newer VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) components can trigger installation errors.
The Solidsquad tool assumes certain components are already installed. Specifically:
Open your Windows start menu and search for . Run the client application. Navigate to the License Order tab.
The activator needs to write to Program Files , ProgramData , and the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE registry hive. If you double-click the activator without selecting Windows restricts its access. The tool attempts to open a handle to a protected registry key, fails, and returns Error 6.
Navigate to the root directory where your SOLIDWORKS FLEXnet server files are stored (typically located under your installation directory, such as C:\SolidSQUAD_License_Servers ). Inside the folder, locate the file named . Right-click the file and select Run as administrator .
If Solidworks, the Solidworks License Server, or sldworks_fs.exe is running in the background, the SLDMWIN.DLL file is locked by the OS. The patcher cannot open a write handle → Error 6.
